WORDS

BLOG POSTS + ARTICLES

My main goal with an article or blog post – besides great writing – is making sure it’s 1) authentic 2) unique 3) consistent with the brand’s values and mission. And, usually, I’m not just writing! I spend time on research, interviews and reviewing testimonials as needed to fit the goals of a campaign.

NEWSLETTERS + EMAIL COPY

I write and produce Quick Hits, Investigative Reporters and Editors’ biweekly newsletter, going out to 20K+ subscribers. This means selecting newsworthy content, designing graphics and promoting our many events. I craft each word with detail and find ways to get creative.

With subject lines like:

Subject: 🙏 We’re so sorry… | Pre-header: to create a conference schedule this good

IRE also sends out targeted messaging to promote specific events, discounts, etc. These emails go out to about ~5,000 members, and sometimes to smaller sub-groups in the membership. With members around the world, this virtual connection is crucial to maintaining strong relationships throughout the year. I write in a tone that is professional, friendly and appealing to our target audience of investigative journalists.

With copy like:

IRE’s next conference is just a few clicks away this October, and we’re offering a registration rate so low you’ll want to investigate further 👀

In addition to sharp writing, I pay attention to user experience and accessibility, and I regularly review open and click rates to see what works well.
